The world of Nepal

Today you set off on your Nepal adventure, flying individually to Kathmandu, where the next morning you'll be greeted with: a warm welcome to Nepal! After you land, a member of staff will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel, where you can first relax and unwind after your journey.

Durbar Square in Kathmandu is the heart of Nepal's traditional culture and art, with numerous historic temples, palaces and sculptures. Here you'll find the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the Taleju Temple, as well as the imposing Jagannath Temple and the statue of Kala Bhairava. The Kasthamandap Temple is said to have been built from the wood of a single tree. Also famous is the temple of Kathmandu's Living Goddess at Kumari Ghar, and the Shiva-Parvati Temple. At 2,000 years old, Swayambhunath is said to be the oldest Buddhist stupa and offers a wonderful panoramic view over the Kathmandu Valley. The excursion to Patan, also known as Lalitpur, leads to the oldest of the three cities in the Kathmandu Valley, with numerous Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments such as the Krishna Temple, the “Golden Temple” Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, and the Khumbeswar Temple. Every brick of the Mahaboudha Temple is engraved with an image of the Buddha, earning it the nickname “Temple of 1,000 Buddhas”.

The Chitwan Nature Reserve at the foot of the Himalayan mountains is one of the few surviving untouched remnants of the Terai region, which once stretched across the foothills of India and Nepal. It boasts an especially rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations of Asian one-horned rhinoceros lives here in the park, and with a good deal of luck the Bengal tiger can also be spotted. A village visit along the way offers glimpses of simple everyday life, and the mostly narrow suspension bridges that connect the hilly regions to each other and to the outside world offer a breathtaking view. A first jungle adventure already awaits you in the afternoon (arranged and organised by the hotel depending on weather and local conditions) in the national park.

Early in the morning you set off on a bird-watching outing or nature walk. You return to the hotel or resort for breakfast. Afterwards you spend the day with further jungle activities such as a jeep safari through the breathtaking jungle scenery or a canoe trip in good weather conditions (arranged by the hotel depending on weather and local conditions). Please note that no jeep safaris take place in Chitwan National Park during the rainy season in the months of July, August and September.

Several beautiful lakes and a breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks make Pokhara one of Nepal's most beautiful valleys, with a magical and peaceful atmosphere; it is also considered the starting point for numerous mountain adventures, such as a hike on the Annapurna Circuit. The afternoon is well suited to a walk around the lake at your own pace.

The peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna rise majestically in the light of the early-morning sunrise (around 5:00 am) — an unforgettable start to the day from Sarangkot, at around 1,592 metres altitude. Back at the hotel, you can reflect on your impressions over breakfast. Pokhara's natural beauty is on display at Devi's Falls and the Seti River Gorge, where the interplay of water and rock offers a fascinating sight. On a nearby hill sits the Bindhyabasini Temple. It is dedicated to Pokhara's guardian goddess Bhagwati and offers a breathtaking view of the Annapurna peak. Wonderful underworlds open up in the Gupteshwar Mahadev Cave, one of the longest in South Asia. A boat trip on Phewa Lake lets you enjoy the wonderful natural panorama in a relaxed way.

Views of breathtaking natural scenery are guaranteed today on the drive back to the Kathmandu Valley! The enchanting old town with its pagoda temples and a breathtaking mountain panorama make Dhulikhel a gem for every Nepal traveller away from the bustle of the capital, and the ideal starting point for numerous sights in the region. The evening is free for relaxation or exploring on your own.

An early start is rewarded with an unforgettable panorama of the Himalayan peaks at sunrise! Before breakfast, weather permitting, you can enjoy breathtaking views from the hotel. At an altitude of 2,175 metres lies the picturesque village of Nagarkot, carrying you into the everyday rural life of its people against the wonderful backdrop of snow-capped peaks, while Bhaktapur, one of the three royal cities of the Kathmandu Valley, feels like a museum of medieval art and architecture. Durbar Square, with its cluster of pagodas and temples around the Palace of Fifty-Five Windows, is one of the valley's architectural showpieces. Pottery and weaving are its most important traditional industries and can be admired — and bought as souvenirs — while strolling through the bazaars.

Depending on your departure time, the day is yours to spend freely before you are taken to the airport in good time. From here, carrying home a wealth of new impressions, you begin your return flight. We wish you a pleasant journey home and hope to welcome you back as our guests again soon.
