Trekking tour through Nepal

Today you begin your Nepal adventure and fly individually to Kathmandu, where the next morning you’ll be greeted with: Welcome to Nepal! After you land, you will be met at the airport by a staff member and continue your journey to Nagarkot. This picturesque village lies at an altitude of 2,175 meters and offers a glimpse into rural daily life, set against the wonderful backdrop of snow-covered peaks. On the way, you will visit Bhaktapur, which, as one of the three royal cities of the Kathmandu Valley, feels like an open-air museum of medieval art and architecture. Durbar Square, with its conglomeration of pagodas and temples surrounding the Fifty-Five Window Palace, is one of the architectural highlights of the valley. Pottery and weaving are its most important traditional industries, which you can admire while strolling through the bazaars—and even purchase as souvenirs. (If time is not sufficient, the visit to Bhaktapur will be made up on the following day.)

Tibetan monks in rust-colored robes wander along streets decorated with colorful flags, while pilgrims turn prayer wheels and stock up on yak butter and barley flour — every day, thousands of pilgrims come to the Boudhanath Stupa to perform religious rituals under the watchful eyes of the Buddha and to immerse themselves in the vibrant selection of ceremonial items at the surrounding markets. Swayambhunath, said to be 2,000 years old, is considered the oldest Buddhist stupa and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley. Durbar Square in Kathmandu is the center of Nepal’s traditional culture and art, featuring numerous historic temples, palaces, and sculptures. Here you will find the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the Taleju Temple, as well as the impressive Jagannath Temple and the statue of Kala Bhairava. A rickshaw ride takes you right into the heart of the lively bazaars.

Several beautiful lakes and a breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks make Pokhara one of the most beautiful valleys in Nepal, with a magical and peaceful atmosphere. It is also considered the starting point for numerous mountain adventures, such as a trek on the Annapurna Circuit. Along the way, you gain insight into rural life during a visit to a typical village, while in the afternoon you can learn more about the history of mountaineering at the International Mountain Museum in Pokhara.

Nayapul, at an altitude of 1,070 meters, is the starting point of your first trekking stage along the Modi and Bhurundi rivers, passing through Tikhedhungga and continuing up to Ulleri at 2,050 meters. Once there, all that’s left to do is sit back and relax in the unique natural landscape, taking a well-deserved break while absorbing the impressions of the breathtaking scenery — endless bamboo forests, roaring waterfalls, and the magnificent mountain world.

Freshly strengthened, today’s hike continues steadily uphill to Ghorepani at an altitude of 2,850 meters, accompanied by impressive views of the Annapurna massif. Here, it’s time to gather new energy and spend the rest of the day quietly reflecting on the impressions of a breathtaking natural landscape filled with rhododendron and oak forests.

Today starts early, because Poon Hill, at an altitude of 3,210 meters, is not only the highest point of your trekking tour, but also an unforgettable highlight of your journey thanks to its unique sunrise. Afterwards, the trail slowly leads downhill, although one or two climbs still await you along the way. Your overnight accommodation awaits you in Tadapani at 2,590 meters — here you can put your feet up and regain strength for tomorrow’s stage.

Today, the trail leads steadily downhill along narrow, hilly paths. Picturesque villages set in the midst of a breathtaking mountain landscape offer unforgettable impressions of a traditional way of life lived in harmony with nature. You will set up your overnight stay in Ghandruk at 1,940 meters. Or are you feeling a bit adventurous? — Then take some time to explore the village on your own.

The final stage leads back to the starting point of the trekking tour in Nayapul at 1,070 meters — almost like a stroll through the enchanting valley shaped by the Modi River. From here, you travel by car back to Pokhara — the otherworldly atmosphere of this magical place is the perfect conclusion to your Himalayan journey! A visit to a nearby Tibetan settlement provides deep insights into the village life of exiled Tibetans in Nepal, where they are still able to keep their own traditions and cultures alive.

A pillar erected by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka marks Lumbini as the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama. The future Buddha and founder of Buddhism was born here in 623 BCE. The numerous preserved remains of temples and stupas testify to the history and nature of Buddhist pilgrimage sites dating back to his early time. The Maya Devi Temple is dedicated to the mother of the Buddha, and many nations have built their own Buddhist temples around the park-like area in a variety of architectural styles, giving the site an aura of connection that transcends all borders.

The Chitwan National Park, located at the foothills of the Himalayas, is one of the few remaining untouched areas of the Terai region, which once extended across parts of India and Nepal. It boasts particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations of Asian one-horned rhinoceroses lives in the park, and with a bit of luck, the Bengal tiger can also be spotted. An afternoon jeep safari awaits you (organized by the hotel depending on weather and local conditions) in the national park.

You start the day leisurely and enjoy a final breakfast in the enchanting natural surroundings of Chitwan before returning to Kathmandu. Here, you will be taken directly to the international airport to begin your journey home, carrying with you many new impressions.
