Travel in Pasikuda

Pasikuda appears in our programme once. One trip reaches it — Breathtaking nature & culture, 14 days from EUR 1,220 — and that trip gives the beach four nights in the middle of a Sri Lanka loop. There is no separate beach component for the east coast in our catalogue and no way to book Pasikuda on its own. If the east coast is the reason you are looking, this single itinerary is the whole of what we sell.

The place is a shallow bay in the Batticaloa district, on the opposite side of the island from the Galle and Negombo coasts the rest of our routes use. The trip arrives from the Cultural Triangle. Day two is the cave temples at Dambulla, day three the climb up Sigiriya rock, and day four crosses to Pasikuda. Our itinerary describes it in one line — white sand, turquoise sea, and time to relax. The next scheduled entry is day eight, the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. That is four nights on the coast before the trip turns back inland for the tea plantations at Nuwara Eliya, a jeep safari in Yala and the fort at Galle.

Those four nights are unscheduled, and it is better to say so plainly. The plan names no snorkelling, no diving, no boat trips and no excursions at Pasikuda. Day five reads: enjoy more days on the beach and arrange your stay according to your own wishes. Days six and seven carry no entry at all. There is also a mismatch in our own itinerary worth flagging — the day-five heading says "Hike in Horton Plains National Park", while the day it then describes is a beach day at Pasikuda. Horton Plains is in the hill country, hours inland. Ask us which of the two your quote carries before you plan on either.

Pasikuda is the only east-coast stop in our Sri Lanka programme. Six private trips cover the island, and the other five put their coastal nights on the west and south — Unawatuna at the start of two, Negombo at the end of three. Those are short stops bolted to the beginning or end of a route. Pasikuda sits differently: four nights in the middle, with the itinerary going back to work afterwards.

The inclusions are the standard list on this trip — hotel accommodation, breakfast, a German-speaking guide, 24-hour contact with our team throughout, and a bottle of water on arrival. International flights are not included, here or anywhere in our catalogue. No hotel is named for the Pasikuda nights; that is settled when the trip is put together, and there is no five-star tier on anything we sell. The categories are Standard, Deluxe, Superior and Executive. After Galle the same itinerary carries on to the Maldives for four nights on an island of your choice, marked optional and priced on top by category.

The trip is private and there are no fixed departure dates, so it runs when it suits you. Our catalogue records no best season for it. The east coast does not follow the same weather calendar as the south and west, so if a particular month matters, say so early and we will confirm what the coast is doing before anything is priced.
