Culinary India
Indian cuisine is extremely versatile, flavourful and offers a seemingly endless range of dishes waiting to be discovered. From spicy street food to sophisticated fine dining options, Indian cuisine offers something for every palate. The country’s culinary landscape is largely influenced by its geography, history and cultural diversity. Each state of India has its own unique cuisine and culinary tradition, from the rich and spicy dishes of the north, west, east, north-east, south to the lighter and milder flavours of the south.
Indian cuisine allows visitors not only to explore the different regions of India, but also to familiarise themselves with the different facets of Indian cuisine. Street food plays a central role, with street vendors on almost every corner offering delicious and affordable treats, from chaat and samosas to kebabs and biryanis, promising a unique culinary adventure.
Fine dining is also gaining momentum in India, with top chefs creating innovative dishes that combine traditional Indian flavours with modern techniques. These restaurants not only offer excellent food but also a unique ambience for a special culinary experience. Delhi alone has 16 Michelin star fine dining restaurants.
Traditional sweets are another highlight of Indian cuisine and Indian desserts offer a real treat for the senses.
