Your Sri Lankan adventure begins with a private flight to Colombo, where the following morning you'll be welcomed to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival, you'll be met at Bandaranaike International Airport by a member of staff and transferred to your hotel in the nearby fishing village of Negombo, where you can relax and recover from your journey. If you're feeling adventurous, you can explore the charming village on your own and get your first impressions of Sri Lanka.

With its buildings dating back to the Portuguese and Dutch periods, and its beautiful beaches dotted with countless catamarans, the small fishing village of Negombo exudes a magical atmosphere. The morning fish market is particularly famous, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the coastal inhabitants. An afternoon stroll through Galle in southern Sri Lanka is like stepping back in time to the colonial past. The fort in the bay was first established by the Portuguese in 1588 and then further expanded and fortified by the Dutch from 1649 onwards. Buildings such as the Dutch church, the museum, and the white lighthouse at the eastern end of the fort radiate an inimitable historical charm.

The Sinharaja Rainforest is the last remaining continuous forest area in Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Everything you imagine a wild jungle to be can be found here: a tropical climate with high humidity, frequent rainfall, towering canopies and dense undergrowth, enchanting waterfalls, and a fascinating array of wildlife including poisonous insects and amphibians, monkeys, and a colorful array of birds. Accompanied by a unique soundscape of insect chirping, monkey calls, and birdsong, you will discover the wonderful natural landscape and its inhabitants on a hike. Your ranger will point out the masters of camouflage. He knows every animal, every tree, and every plant – and will gladly explain the subtle but important differences between jungle and rainforest.

Udawalawe National Park is another of Sri Lanka's natural highlights, waiting to be discovered. Following the construction of the Udawalawe Dam, numerous wild animals have found a protected habitat here. In the afternoon, join a shared jeep safari to follow the tracks of water buffalo, wild boar, mongooses, and elephants, immersing yourself in the fantastic natural landscape.

Vibrant green tea plantations, rolling hills, and wonderful hiking trails make Ella one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful natural paradises and a must-see for every adventure traveler! After the gentle hike to Little Adam's Peak, you'll enjoy a breathtaking view of the adjacent Ella Rock, Ravana Falls, and the stunning green hills all around. You can also gaze down at the town below. The evening is free for relaxation or independent exploration.

Once the last stronghold of the Sinhalese kings, Kandy has retained an aura of grandeur and exudes an exotic beauty. Nestled amidst verdant hills, Kandy and its surrounding villages are a cultural hub where many legends, traditions, and ways of life are kept alive. The atmospheric heart of Kandy is the Temple of the Tooth, situated by the lake against a backdrop of green hills, where a tooth of Buddha is enshrined – lighting an oil lamp or placing flowers there is said to bring good fortune. A performance of traditional Kandy dances offers a musical journey into the vibrant cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.

With its white, gently sloping sandy beach, turquoise sea, and fishermen casting their nets in the afternoon, Nilaveli is the ideal place to relax far from the tourist crowds. In this idyllic atmosphere, especially during the summer months, you can wonderfully unwind and forget about everyday life.

Enjoy a few days on the idyllic Nilaveli beach and tailor your stay to your own preferences. Soak up the sun on the beach in the shade of the palm trees, or if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, visit Pigeon Island Marine National Park for diving or snorkeling (not included in the tour price) or take a trip to the nearby port city of Trincomalee with its Portuguese Fort Frederick, colorful Hindu temples, and lively markets (not included in the tour price).

Habanara is considered an ideal starting point for exploring Sri Lanka's cultural triangle, encompassing the ancient royal cities of Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa, as well as the cave temples of Dambulla. The Dambulla caves initially served as a refuge for a king, who, after regaining his throne, had them adorned with magnificent images. Numerous successors followed his example, so that today, with their more than 153 depictions of Buddha and vibrant murals from various periods, the caves represent a true cultural and historical treasure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Rising abruptly from the jungle, the gneiss rock of Sigiriya is Sri Lanka's most popular historical site. Its 200-meter-high summit was once entirely covered in buildings, and the entrance flanked by lion paws halfway up gave the complex the name "Lion's Fortress." The preserved water gardens, colorful frescoes, the mirrored wall with ancient graffiti, and the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape hint at the site's former grandeur. Long forgotten, the architectural remains of Polonnaruwa lay buried beneath dense jungle until the British rediscovered the former Sinhalese capital in 1820. The ingenious irrigation system with its artificial reservoir, which allowed rice cultivation even during the dry season, underscores its former importance. The circular Vatadage Temple once even housed the sacred tooth relic of Buddha, carefully preserved within its walls. The remains of the magnificent royal palace, the huge stupas, extensive temple and monastery complexes, and imposing Buddha statues also tell of the past glory of a golden age.

The Negombo lagoon is famous for its lobster, shrimp, and crab fishing. After arrival, you'll check into your hotel and can spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring on your own.

Depending on your departure time, you will be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport today, from where you will begin your journey home.
